The New York and South Florida Chapters of WOGA will be kicking off its 4-Part Holistic Wellness series of Evening Zoom Education sessions that are designed to support our members as well as other UJAA Member Alumni Associations during these uncertain times. As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to disrupt our lives, we will strive to present relevant topics to help you meet your challenges in the days and weeks ahead.
The series is entitled: “Thriving in a Culture of Wellness: And then I looked around and saw a new ME”. It begins Monday, May 18, 2020 at 8:00pm – 9:00pm with WOGA New York member Lois Powell taking the lead. She will speak under the topic: “Building Resiliency to Isolation and Loneliness” and provide attendees with coping skills to help us maintain good psychological balance in this time.
Lois A. Powell, M.A., M.Ed., MFA, is a graduate of Westwood High School. She is driven to help students overcome barriers that impact their learning and is committed to educating students and the community through establishing strong connections. Lois is a graduate of Felician University with a M.Ed and of William Paterson University with a M.A. in Educational Leadership. She brings over 30 years of teaching experience. As a champion for the disenfranchised, Lois strives to give back to her community in Jamaica as well as New Jersey, where she resides. Her commitment to teaching and community service led her to become certified as a Mental Health First Aid Instructor with the Mental Health First Aid USA.
Following this momentous launch, on May, 27 South Florida’s Donna Lee-Nicholson and Cheryl Spence will conduct a session on “The ABCs of Health Care“.
